The luxury cottage at Hatswell Meadows lies in the heart of the picturesque Exe Valley, and so the beaches and coasts of both North Devon and South Devon are with in an easy drive. By choosing Hatswell Meadows for your cottage holiday you can have the best of both worlds in the only Uk County with two coasts.
Croyde Bay has a wide sandy beach and is popular with surfers and for family bucket and spade holidays.
Westward Ho! has miles of sand and dunes. A vast expanse and nature reserve. Wind surfing is really popular here.
Further along the coast towards Cornwall is Clovelly. An olde world village & harbour nestled in the cliffs. Very steep but spectacular. No cars as it is cobbled, narrow and only suitable for donkeys!
The stunning Hartland Penisula is world famous for its turbulent geology and ship wrecks.
Local Weather Forcast. Hopefully it will be sunny for your day trip to the seaside in Devon.
Dawlish is on the other side of the River Exe esturay and has a variety of beaches. The dunes and family beach & nature reserve at Dawlish Warren is popular with families and Coryton Cove is a tucked away beach used by the locals. A great beach if you are a train spotter as the mainline train to London emerges from the tunnel at the back of the beach.
Teignmouth and Shaldon are furher along he South Devon Coast, both have lively boating communities.
The English Riviera starts at Torquay and ends at the fishing port of Brixham.
My favourite Devon beach is Bigbury in the South Hams. Pack a picnic and have a great day out. Have a tractor ride out to Burgh Island and enjoy a drink at The Pilchard Inn. Days at the beach do not come better than this.
The Jurassic Coast of Devon is a World Hertitage Site and incorporates the East Devon resorts of Sidmouth, Beer and Seaton.
As Time and Tide waits for no man, if you are planning a trip to the seside as part of your cottage holiday here are the South West Tide Times
